Coquet Shorebase Trust


Course during Easter 2012
 The Shorebase is running Children and Families canoeing and sailing courses this Easter on Ladyburn Lake at Druridge Bay Country Park.


 Sailing Courses for Children and Families

Monday and Tuesday, 9th and 10th April
2 day course RYA Level 1 and RYA Level 2
£70 per day
Thursday and Friday, 12th and 13th April
Half-day sailing sessions
£35 per session
Come Try Canoeing For All Ages, children or adults

Friday, 13th April
“GO CANOEING” event from 10:30 to 3:30
Come and try canoeing, bring clothing you don't mind getting a bit damp, we provide buoyancy aids.
All ages, £3 per head
If the times or courses above don’t fit with your Easter plans, get in touch with us as we may be able to provide the course that you need at the time you want it.

RYA FIRST AID CERTIFICATE .     An   8 hour course tailored for the needs of those going to sea.
£60 per head, includes book and certificate.   Dates TBA.


 

RYA Powerboat Level 2 .    This is a two day/ 16hr course leading to the nationally recognised certificate in Powerboat handling.     We use planing craft (RIB/ Dory) and it takes place from our Amble Centre, giving the Coastal endorsement.

  Cost: £185 (includes handbook and certificate).   Times vary.
Dates:   Feb 18/19,    Mar 3/4,    17/18,    31/April 1    

Midweek RYA Powerboat courses by arrangement: minimum of 2 participants.   We can also offer one day assessments for experienced powerboat handlers.

 


Sailing and Windsurfing Tuition.  
Learn to sail our single-handed Topper dinghies or our starter Windsurf Boards on Ladyburn Lake ( Druridge Bay Country Park ).    Wetsuits and buoyancy aids provided.

Cost: £65 per day     Times: 10am – 4.00pm 

 
Start Sailing :   You can achieve RYA Level 1 in two days   

 
Start Windsurfing :      2 day courses (RYA Start):      

 
RYA Level 2 Dinghy Sailing :   For those with previous experience (eg   RYA Level 1) you can achieve Level 2 with two further days training.

 
Windsurfing Progression sessions :
Half Day: £35.00                    Times 10am-12.30pm or 1.30pm- 3.30pm

Improvers, intermediate or advanced sessions tailored to your level.

The sailing and windsurfing prices are for a minimum of 3 participants.

 

Paddlesports :
This includes both kayaking (you sit in the boat and use a double –ended paddle) and open canoeing (using a single blade, Indian style).
Cost:   £65 per day    / £35 per half day.

We can offer tuition at all levels, introductory, improvers or working to BCU awards.     Tuition can be on Ladyburn Lake or on the Coquet Estuary/ River or at sea.

Sunday Paddling on the Coquet Estuary
Come and paddle on the beautiful and varied Coquet Estuary, in either a kayak or canoe.   Enjoy a tour of the wildlife and scenery with one of our coaches.
            6th /20 th May                         3 rd /17 th     June   

Cost: £30 for those with some previous experience, able to paddle up to 3 miles.   All equipment provided.   Time: 2pm – 4.30pm   

 


Canoe/Kayak/ topper/Windsurfer hire on Ladyburn Lake :         

Cost: £15 per head    (All Ages).   Basic instruction and supervision from our coaches.

COME AND TRY IT DAYS!

June 4 th :    Amble Jubilee Day

Open day at the Shorebase in Amble – come and have a go at paddling one of our canoes or kayaks.    £2 per head.
