An important part of the Shorebase are the clubs that are based here.
There are sailing,
canoeing and windsurfing clubs affiliated to the Shorebase.
Coquet Canoe Club
is also affiliated to the BCU, and provides a wide range of
recreational kayaking and canoeing activity including; inland touring
(up to Grade 4) in kayak and canoe, surfing, sea paddling, and
introduction to competition in slalom, polo and wild water racing.
The Club provides supervised canoeing and equipment for the use of its
membership at affordable prices, allowing access to canoeing for those
in the community who do not have their own equipment.
There are active Senior and Junior sections.
In 2005 the Canoe Club were awarded Topclub status by the British Canoe
and Clubmark by Sport England. They are the first Canoe Club in the
northern region to receive these awards that recognise the quality of
programme, and instruction available to the youth members.
The Club is open to everyone, supports people’s desire to paddle at the
level that suits them, and gives them the opportunities and training to
expand their abilities.
