2023 CCC Round the Island Race

      Sunday  June 22nd

      Start time:  11am

The race will take place from the Coquet Shorebase Trust’s  premises, on the Braid, just upstream of Amble.  (NE65 0WU)

  •  Registration from 9;30am briefing approx 10am  
  • There are two courses:

Island Race:  This is approx 5 miles, circumnavigating Coquet Island.  The race is primarily for sea kayaks. Though competent paddlers in other craft, such as Surf Skis, Outrigger canoe/Va’a or Race SUP are more welcome to take part but the prizes for them may be limited.  Minimum age 14 (unless accompanied by a parent/guardian).

Junior Race:  approx 2.5 miles – to round a buoy just outside the harbour entrance.  This race is for kayaks max length 4 metres.  Age: under 15.

Safety Cover:  provided by Coquet Shorebase and RNLI.   Junior race will be accompanied by kayaks and a dedicated safety boat.

All Competitors should be confident of their ability to stay upright in the prevailing conditions; they should be suitably dressed to survive a prolonged immersion; they should be experienced in deep water rescues.

  • Entry fees include use of WC and showers at Shorebase,  plus tea/coffee/soft drinks.)  
  • Camping evening prior to the event will be available for competitors and accompanying supporters.
