We run these popular trips every week from May onwards. We’ve got a wide range of canoes and kayaks, including sit-on-tops and double-seaters to suit all levels of ability and age, including beginners.
We use the rising tide to take us up river, exploring the history and wildlife of the estuary and river on the way.
You will also get tips on canoeing and kayaking safety from our qualified instructors.
There will be plenty bird life to see on the estuary in early summer – particularly the Eider and Shelduck duckling creches. In autumn and winter many migrating birds pass through, feeding on the mudflats.
You will paddle from our base at the Braid in Amble up the river to Warkworth and back. On some trips we stop to have a packed lunch sitting on the river bank at Warkworth.
No previous experience necessary – wetsuits and buoyancy aids provided. You have a choice of sit-on-top seakayaks or the more traditional craft (including 2 -seaters)
The trips take approximately 2hrs on the water, add on time to get kitted up and if you are on a trip over lunch time, add on the time to enjoy your packed lunch sitting on the river bank at Warkworth.
